Lomandra longifolia 'White Sands'
Lomandra longifolia 'White Sands' is an evergreen perennial grown for its elegant, grass-like foliage and striking variegation. Narrow grey-green leaves are marked with white central stripes and white margins, creating a bright, finely textured display that brings contrast to borders and containers throughout the year.
It forms a dense clump with upright growth at the centre and gently arching leaves around the edges. This graceful habit is ideal for softening paths, repeating through borders or spilling over the edges of patio pots. It combines particularly well with bold-leaved plants and succulents.
Easy to grow and drought tolerant once established, 'White Sands' performs best in full sun or partial shade with moist but well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing and choose a sheltered position, providing winter protection in colder gardens. Its foliage needs only an occasional tidy to remove older leaves.
