Pegging runners

Strawberries have been sending out vigorous runners now for weeks. Normally these are cut off, to save the plant wasting energy. But if you want to create new plants for cropping in future years, retain three or four runners per plant, and peg these down into the soil and water them. These will quickly root and form new plants.
