Leucothoe axillaris 'Curly Red'
Leucothoe 'Curly Red' is a distinctive evergreen shrub prized for its glossy, twisted foliage and rich seasonal colour. New growth emerges deep red before maturing to green, creating an attractive mix of shades across the plant.
As temperatures cool, the foliage develops deeper red and bronze tones, providing excellent autumn and winter interest. Small white flowers appear in spring beneath the leaves, adding a subtle contrast to the bold, textured foliage.
Naturally compact and low maintenance, 'Curly Red' is ideal for mixed borders, woodland-style planting, patio containers and shaded garden schemes. It performs best in moist but well-drained, acidic soil in partial shade or gentle sun.
