Ilex crenata 'Jenny' - Ball
Ilex crenata 'Jenny' is a compact, evergreen shrub with densely packed, glossy green leaves that resemble boxwood and is shaped into a Ball. It forms a dense, neat habit, makes it perfect for shaping into topiary forms or as a low-maintenance structural plant in formal borders and containers.
With minimal maintenance this variety maintains its shape well and offers year-round structure. It grows best in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil, tolerates full sun to partial shade, and is fully hardy in typical UK gardens. Unlike Buxus, it’s resistant to box blight, making it an excellent alternative.
