Rubus fruticosus 'Navaho Summerlong'®
Blackberry 'Navaho Summerlong'® is a productive floricane blackberry with thornless, upright-growing stems. Its tidy and manageable habit makes it particularly suitable for smaller fruit gardens, allotments or training against a sunny wall or fence.
Large, firm blackberries ripen over an extended period from July until the end of August. The aromatic fruits have a deliciously sweet and juicy flavour, making them excellent for eating freshly picked or using in jams, pies, crumbles and other desserts.
Self-fertile, hardy and easy to grow, 'Navaho Summerlong'® performs best in a sunny, sheltered position, although it will tolerate light shade. Plant it in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil, removing the old fruited canes after harvesting and tying in the new shoots for the following year's crop.

Blackberry Growing Tips
- Plant in a sunny, sheltered position for the best crops, although light shade is tolerated.
- Choose fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil and water regularly during dry weather.
- Tie newly produced canes to supporting wires, a trellis or a fence as they grow.
- During the first winter, shorten the side shoots growing from the main canes.
- After subsequent harvests, remove the old fruited canes at ground level and tie in the new growth.
- Protect ripening fruit with securely fitted netting if birds become a problem.
