Rubus fruticosus agg. 'Navaho'
Blackberry 'Navaho' is a productive, mid-season blackberry with strong, upright canes and completely thornless growth. Its relatively compact habit makes the fruit easy to pick and allows the plant to be grown in smaller fruit gardens, allotments or sunny borders.
Large, firm blackberries ripen from late July through August, providing generous crops of sweet, juicy fruit. The berries have an excellent flavour when eaten freshly picked and are equally suitable for jams, jellies, pies, crumbles and other desserts.
Hardy, self-fertile and easy to grow, 'Navaho' performs best in full sun or partial shade with fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Although naturally upright, the canes can be trained against a wall, fence or supporting wires to keep the plant tidy and simplify pruning.
