Viburnum tinus 'Gwenllian'
Viburnum 'Gwenllian' is a handsome evergreen shrub valued for its long season of interest, glossy foliage and abundant winter flowers. Dense growth and year-round leaves make it an excellent choice for hedging, screening or as a feature shrub in mixed borders.
Deep red flower buds begin to develop in autumn before opening to clusters of soft blush pink and white flowers throughout winter and into early spring. As the flowers fade, attractive metallic blue berries appear in late spring, extending the ornamental display well into autumn while providing food for birds.
Easy to grow and tolerant of a wide range of conditions, 'Gwenllian' performs best in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. Once established it is drought tolerant and highly attractive to bees and other early-season pollinators, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
