Saponaria ocymoides
Saponaria ocymoides is a charming, low-growing alpine forming neat cushions of fresh green foliage. In summer, it becomes covered with masses of flamingo-pink flowers, creating a soft, tumbling display over the edges of walls, beds and containers.
The profusion of bright blooms brings excellent seasonal colour to dry, sunny planting schemes. The flowers are also attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, making this a useful choice for wildlife-friendly rock gardens.
Easy to grow in full sun and well-drained soil, this hardy perennial is ideal for rockeries, gravel gardens, raised beds and walls. It is drought tolerant once established and works especially well where its spreading habit can cascade naturally.
