Rhododendron carolinianum 'Elite Star'
Rhododendron carolinianum 'Elite Star' is a compact evergreen shrub producing attractive star-shaped flowers in shades of purple-pink during late spring. The blooms are held in neat clusters above glossy dark green foliage, creating a colourful display with year-round structure.
Naturally rounded and relatively low growing, 'Elite Star' is especially well suited to smaller gardens, woodland-style planting and patio containers. Its spring flowers are also attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, adding wildlife value as well as seasonal colour.
Very hardy and reliable, this Rhododendron grows best in partial shade in acidic, moist but well-drained soil. Use ericaceous compost when growing in containers and avoid allowing the roots to dry out during prolonged warm weather.
