Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Silver Ball'
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Silver Ball' is a compact evergreen shrub with a naturally rounded habit and attractive grey-green leaves edged with irregular white margins. The variegated foliage creates a soft, silvery appearance, bringing year-round brightness and structure to borders and container displays.
In May and June, small purple-brown flowers appear among the foliage, adding a delicate fragrance and subtle seasonal interest. Its neat, globe-shaped growth makes it an appealing alternative to traditional box balls, while the pale foliage contrasts beautifully with darker evergreens and colourful perennials.
Easy to grow and requiring little pruning, 'Silver Ball' is ideal for low hedging, edging and patio pots. Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, with the best foliage colour in sun. Choose a sheltered position and provide winter protection in colder gardens.
