Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Golden Ball'
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Golden Ball' is a compact evergreen shrub with a naturally rounded, ball-shaped habit that needs little pruning. Bright golden-yellow new leaves contrast with older yellow-green foliage, creating an attractive two-tone display that brings colour and structure to the garden throughout the year.
In May and June, small purple flowers appear among the leaves, carrying a sweet, honey-like fragrance. Its dense growth makes 'Golden Ball' a useful alternative to clipped Buxus balls, while its colourful foliage suits both formal layouts and relaxed mixed planting schemes.
Ideal for borders, low hedging and patio containers, this easy-to-grow shrub thrives in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Choose a sheltered position away from cold, drying winds and provide protection during severe frosts, particularly in colder gardens or for plants grown in containers.
