Pieris japonica 'Prelude'
Pieris japonica 'Prelude' is a compact, densely branched evergreen shrub with a naturally rounded, globe-shaped habit. Its rich dark green foliage provides year-round structure, while fresh new leaves emerge with an attractive soft pink tint before maturing to glossy green.
Flowering slightly later than many other Pieris varieties, 'Prelude' produces clusters of pure white, bell-shaped flowers in spring. The lightly scented blooms stand out beautifully against the dark foliage and provide an elegant seasonal display.
Ideal for smaller borders, woodland-style planting and patio containers, 'Prelude' grows best in a sheltered position in partial shade. Plant in moist but well-drained acidic soil, or use ericaceous compost when growing in containers.
