Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal'
Panicum 'Heavy Metal' is an award-winning ornamental grass forming neat clumps of strongly upright, metallic blue-green foliage. Its architectural habit provides valuable height, movement and texture without becoming untidy or sprawling.
During late summer and early autumn, tall stems carry airy clusters of tiny purple-pink flowers above the foliage. As the season progresses, the leaves develop warm yellow autumn tones, often complemented by attractive burgundy colouring at the tips.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, 'Heavy Metal' is ideal for sunny borders, prairie-style planting, gravel gardens and large containers. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and is also suitable for exposed coastal gardens.
