Nepenthes gaya
Nepenthes ‘Gaya’ is a striking carnivorous pitcher plant producing large, colourful traps with distinctive shape and subtle distortions that give each pitcher unique character. The firm, often darkening green leaves provide a strong backdrop to the bold hanging cups, creating an exotic and eye-catching display.
Perfect for bright indoor spaces with good humidity, it works beautifully on shelves or in hanging displays where the pitchers can develop and be fully appreciated. If pitchers arrive dry, they can be topped up once to around a quarter full with rainwater to support initial hydration.

Nepenthes Care Sheet
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid strong direct sunlight
Water: Keep compost consistently moist using rainwater or distilled water. Do not allow to dry out
Soil/Nutrition: Use a free-draining, nutrient-poor mix such as sphagnum moss and perlite. Do not use standard compost
Humidity: Prefers higher humidity to encourage pitcher formation
Pruning and propagation: Trim long stems if needed. Can be propagated from stem cuttings

Nepenthes Plant Care
Watering
Keep the Nepenthes soil continually moist. This can be done by placing a waterfilled dish under the plant. It is a myth that the pitchers of the Nepenthes need to be refilled regularly. The plant does this on its own.
However, it is possible that the pitchers lose their moisture during transport. Larger plants are often transported with the pitchers upside down. In that case, the pitchers can be refilled once(!) to a quarter with rainwater to prevent the traps from drying out.
Location
In general, the Nepenthes needs a humid location. However, the Nepenthes Bloody Mary is a lot less picky and does well in almost every living room.
The plants do need light, but no direct full sun. We also recommend keeping the plant inside.
Fertilizer
We do not recommend to give these plants fertilizer.
