Lonicera 'Mandarin'
Lonicera 'Mandarin' is a vigorous deciduous climbing honeysuckle with striking orange-red flowers and attractive seasonal foliage. Fresh leaves and young stems emerge bronze in spring before the foliage matures to glossy dark green, creating a colourful backdrop for the summer display.
Clusters of tubular flowers have orange-red outer petals and golden yellow-orange centres. The main flush appears in June and July, with further blooms continuing intermittently into September. Their warm colouring stands out against the dark foliage, bringing a bright display to vertical planting schemes.
Hardy and easy to grow, 'Mandarin' is ideal for covering trellises, arches, pergolas and supported walls or fences. Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Provide sturdy supports and guide the flexible young stems into place as they grow.
