Hydrangea macrophylla 'Magical Evolution Blue' is a compact, bushy deciduous shrub producing impressive rounded mophead flowers in rich shades of blue. The strong stems and dark green foliage create an attractive backdrop for its long-lasting summer display.
One of the distinctive features of the Magical series is the way the flowers change colour as they mature. The blue blooms gradually develop green and deeper red-purple tones, creating an evolving display that can continue from summer through to the first frosts.
Ideal for borders and large patio containers, 'Magical Evolution Blue' grows best in a position with sun or partial shade and moist but well-drained soil. Regular watering is particularly important when grown in containers, and acidic soil will help maintain the strongest blue flower colour.
