Hakonechloa macra 'Greenhills'
Hakonechloa macra 'Greenhills' is a graceful deciduous ornamental grass forming compact mounds of broad, arching green foliage. Its gently cascading leaves create a flowing, fountain-like effect that introduces movement, texture and a calming presence to garden planting.
Airy sprays of small green flowers rise above the foliage during summer, adding further softness without overpowering the plant's elegant form. The leaves retain their fresh green colouring for much of the season before developing attractive russet, orange and red tones during autumn.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, 'Greenhills' performs best in partial or dappled shade with moist, humus-rich and well-drained soil. It is perfect for softening paths and steps, underplanting trees and shrubs, or combining with ferns, hostas and other shade-loving perennials.
