Euphorbia 'Miners Merlot'
Euphorbia 'Miners Merlot' is a striking semi-evergreen perennial with strong upright stems and richly coloured foliage. Young leaves emerge burgundy-red before developing dark green tones, retaining reddish-purple colouring particularly on their undersides. As temperatures fall, the foliage deepens again, creating dramatic contrast in borders and containers.
From late spring into early summer, bright lime-yellow flower bracts appear above the foliage, providing a vivid contrast against the darker leaves and stems. Its bushy, clump-forming habit brings structure to mixed borders, while the changing foliage colour combines beautifully with ornamental grasses and silver-leaved plants.
Hardy and drought tolerant once established, 'Miners Merlot' performs best in full sun with well-drained soil, although it tolerates partial shade. Ideal for gravel gardens, sunny borders and patio pots, it provides a long season of interest with little maintenance. Wear gloves when handling, as its milky sap can irritate skin and eyes.
