Liriope muscari 'Royal Purple'
Liriope muscari 'Royal Purple' is an evergreen perennial forming dense clumps of arching, strap-like dark green leaves. Its glossy, grass-like foliage brings texture and year-round structure to shaded borders, making it a useful choice for edging paths and creating low ground cover.
From late summer into autumn, upright spikes of densely packed, deep purple flowers rise above the foliage. Resembling miniature grape hyacinths, the blooms provide valuable colour towards the end of the growing season. Glossy purple-black berries follow, extending its ornamental interest into the cooler months.
Hardy and low maintenance, 'Royal Purple' thrives in partial or dappled shade in moist but well-drained, acidic to neutral soil. Once established, it tolerates dry spells well. Ideal for woodland-style planting and containers, it benefits from shelter from cold, drying winds.
