Erica carnea 'Nathalie'
Erica carnea 'Nathalie' is a compact evergreen winter heath producing masses of rich purple-red, bell-shaped flowers from January to April. The densely packed blooms contrast beautifully with its fine, dark green needle-like foliage, bringing bright colour to the garden through winter and early spring.
Its neat, spreading habit creates a low carpet that is ideal for rockeries, banks and the front of borders. Plant in groups for a stronger display, or combine with spring bulbs and white-flowered heathers in containers. The evergreen foliage provides useful texture and groundcover throughout the year.
Hardy and easy to grow, 'Nathalie' performs best in full sun or light partial shade with moist but well-drained soil. It prefers acidic or neutral conditions but also tolerates alkaline soil. Lightly trim after flowering to maintain its compact shape. This reliable variety holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
