Erica carnea f. carnea 'March Seedling'
Erica carnea f. carnea 'March Seedling' is a spreading evergreen heather producing masses of soft lilac-pink to purple flowers from February to May. One of the later winter heathers to bloom, it extends the flowering display well into spring. Its fine, green needle-like foliage forms a neat carpet, providing texture throughout the year.
Ideal for rockeries, banks, border edges and containers, 'March Seedling' looks particularly effective planted in groups or drifts. Its gentle flower colour combines beautifully with white-flowering heathers and spring bulbs. The nectar-rich blooms attract bees and other early pollinators, adding wildlife value alongside its seasonal colour.
Hardy and easy to maintain, this reliable variety grows best in full sun or light partial shade with moist but well-drained soil. It prefers acidic or neutral conditions and also tolerates alkaline soil. A light trim after flowering helps maintain compact, leafy growth and a tidy outline.
