Erica carnea 'Ann Sparkes'
Erica carnea 'Ann Sparkes' is a compact, mat-forming evergreen heather distinguished by its colourful foliage. The fine, needle-like leaves are golden-yellow to orange, with bronze-tinted shoot tips, developing rich crimson tones during cold winter weather.
From late winter into spring, plentiful rose-pink flowers appear in short racemes above the foliage, gradually deepening to purplish-pink. These nectar-rich blooms provide valuable early-season food for bees and other pollinating insects.
Hardy and easy to grow, 'Ann Sparkes' is ideal for rockeries, banks, border edges, containers and ground-cover planting. It performs best in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade and, unlike many heathers, will tolerate neutral and alkaline conditions.
