Catananche caerulea is a light, airy perennial valued for its long-lasting display of delicate, pastel blue, cornflower-like blooms that appear continuously throughout summer. The flowers are held on slender, upright stems, creating a soft, meadow-style effect that works beautifully in naturalistic and mixed planting schemes.
Highly attractive to bees and other pollinators, this drought-tolerant plant is well suited to dry gardens, gravel borders and sunny positions with free-draining soil. After flowering, ornamental seedheads develop in autumn, extending interest into the later seasons and adding texture to borders and arrangements.
