Cardiocrinum giganteum
Cardiocrinum giganteum is a magnificent architectural perennial, admired for its towering flower spikes and enormous heart-shaped leaves. Native to the Himalayan woodlands, it produces one of the most spectacular floral displays of any hardy garden plant.
In summer, mature plants send up impressive stems bearing terminal racemes of large, fragrant, trumpet-shaped white flowers, each beautifully marked with purple inside the throat. Best grown in fertile, moisture-retentive soil in partial shade, this dramatic lily makes an unforgettable focal point in woodland gardens and sheltered borders.
