Calamagrostis × acutiflora 'Avalanche'
Calamagrostis × acutiflora 'Avalanche' is a striking ornamental grass with upright green foliage marked by a distinctive central white stripe. As the season progresses, the variegated leaves can develop soft pink tones, adding further colour and interest.
In summer, airy silver flower plumes rise above the foliage, creating movement, height and texture that can remain attractive well into winter. Its strong vertical form makes 'Avalanche' ideal for borders, prairie-style planting and naturalistic schemes.
Hardy, reliable and low maintenance, 'Avalanche' performs best in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil. It is also suitable for coastal gardens and works particularly well where a light, architectural screen is required.
