Anemone × hybrida 'Whirlwind'
Anemone × hybrida 'Whirlwind' is a graceful Japanese anemone producing elegant semi-double white flowers with bright golden-yellow centres from late summer into autumn. The pristine blooms are carried on tall, slender stems above attractive deep green foliage, creating a light and airy display that brings movement and refinement to the garden.
Flowering at a time when many other perennials are beginning to fade, this reliable variety extends the season with months of fresh colour. The gently nodding flowers appear to float above the foliage, making it an excellent choice for adding height and softness to mixed borders and naturalistic planting schemes.
Thriving in moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, 'Whirlwind' is easy to grow and gradually forms attractive clumps over time. Its nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, while its elegant habit makes it equally at home in cottage gardens, woodland edges and informal borders.
