Actaea 'Hillside Black Beauty'
Actaea 'Hillside Black Beauty' is a dramatic herbaceous perennial grown for its exceptionally dark, purplish-black foliage and tall, elegant flower spikes. Considered one of the darkest bugbanes available, it brings bold contrast and architectural height to shaded borders and woodland gardens.
The young leaves emerge green before quickly maturing to an almost iridescent purple-black. From late summer into autumn, tall stems rise above the foliage carrying fragrant, white bottlebrush flowers with a soft pink flush. The blooms are highly attractive to bees and butterflies, extending seasonal interest well into autumn.
Perfect for planting alongside golden or variegated foliage, this striking variety thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive soil in partial or full shade, where its rich foliage colour is at its finest.
