Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' is one of the finest purple-leaved Japanese maples, prized for its rich, deeply coloured foliage. The elegant five-lobed leaves emerge deep red to purple in spring and retain their strong colouring throughout summer.

In autumn, the foliage develops brilliant fiery-red shades, creating a spectacular seasonal display. Small purple flowers appear in spring and are followed by decorative red winged fruits, adding further interest among the colourful leaves.
