Vinca minor 'Ralph Shugert'
Vinca minor 'Ralph Shugert' is an attractive evergreen perennial forming a low carpet of glossy dark green leaves edged with narrow white margins. The variegated foliage brings brightness and texture to shaded planting, providing useful year-round interest even when the plant is not flowering.
Rich violet-blue flowers appear in spring, with intermittent blooms continuing through summer into early autumn. Its trailing stems root as they spread, gradually creating dense groundcover that helps suppress weeds beneath shrubs and across banks, slopes and border edges.
Hardy and easy to grow, 'Ralph Shugert' performs well in sun, partial shade or full shade, with the best flowering in sunnier positions. Plant in moist but well-drained soil and water while establishing. Once settled, it tolerates drier conditions, while occasional trimming keeps its spreading growth within bounds.
