Viburnum opulus 'Roseum'
Viburnum opulus 'Roseum', also known as the Snowball Tree or Viburnum opulus 'Sterile', is a classic deciduous shrub treasured for its spectacular globe-shaped flower clusters. From late spring to early summer, it produces large, showy balls of greenish-white blooms that mature to pure white, creating a dramatic snowball effect along the branches. Unlike the species, the flowers are sterile and do not form berries, making this variety grown purely for its ornamental value.
In autumn, the foliage turns vibrant shades of red and orange, offering a second season of interest. Easy to grow and highly reliable, this long-established favourite thrives in most garden soils and is suitable for borders, mixed planting and feature positions. Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it is recognised for its exceptional performance and beauty.
