Tropaeolum speciosum
Tropaeolum speciosum, commonly known as the Flame Nasturtium, is a striking deciduous climber admired for its vivid summer display. Slender, twining stems are clothed in deeply divided blue-green foliage, creating a soft, textured backdrop for the masses of brilliant scarlet flowers that appear in abundance.
After flowering, ornamental blue berries develop, extending the season of interest into autumn. Ideal for scrambling naturally through trees, shrubs or hedges, this vigorous climber thrives in cool, moist, acidic soil and is particularly well suited to woodland-style planting where its fiery blooms can weave dramatically through greenery.
