Tectaria hilocarpa
Tectaria hilocarpa is a rare tropical fern with striking elongated fronds beautifully marbled in shades of deep green and silvery grey. Unlike many ferns with finely divided foliage, this unusual species produces leathery, lance-shaped leaves that give it an elegant, almost exotic appearance, making it a standout addition to any indoor plant collection.
Mature plants often produce distinctive upright fertile fronds bearing spores, adding further botanical interest. Naturally found growing on humid tropical forest floors, it thrives in warm, sheltered environments and is perfectly suited to terrariums, plant cabinets or bright rooms with consistently high humidity.

Fern Care Sheet
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light or light shade. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.
Water: Keep the compost evenly moist but never waterlogged. Do not allow the soil to dry out completely.
Soil/Nutrition: Grow in a rich, moisture-retentive but free-draining compost with added bark or perlite. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertiliser.
Humidity: Enjoys high humidity and warm temperatures. Ideal for terrariums, plant cabinets, bathrooms or alongside a humidifier.
Pruning and propagation: Remove old or damaged fronds at the base as they age. Mature plants can be propagated by division during spring.
