Spigelia marilandica 'Ragin Cajun'
Spigelia marilandica 'Ragin Cajun' is a vibrant native perennial producing masses of striking orange-red tubular flowers from late spring into summer. More floriferous than the popular 'Little Redhead', this compact variety forms a naturally rounded mound, making it an outstanding choice for borders, woodland gardens and wildlife-friendly planting schemes.
Adaptable and easy to grow, 'Ragin Cajun' thrives in both sunny and partially shaded positions. Native to the woodlands and streambanks of the eastern United States, it performs particularly well in moisture-retentive, well-drained soils. The nectar-rich blooms are highly attractive to pollinators, bringing bees and butterflies into the garden throughout the flowering season.
Still relatively uncommon in UK gardens, this exceptional perennial offers long-lasting colour, excellent garden performance and a compact habit that makes it suitable for borders, naturalistic planting and containers.
