Purple Sage
Salvia officinalis 'Purpurascens' is an attractive evergreen herb with soft, velvety leaves flushed in rich purple tones. Its colourful foliage combines ornamental appeal with a strong aromatic fragrance, making it a versatile addition to herb gardens and decorative planting schemes.
The foliage provides year-round interest and often develops deeper purple colouring during cooler weather. In early summer, spikes of small lilac-blue flowers appear above the leaves, attracting bees and other pollinating insects.
Useful both as a culinary herb and an ornamental perennial, Purple Sage thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Once established, it becomes drought tolerant and is ideal for herb gardens, mixed borders, gravel gardens and patio containers.
