Rose 'Tottering-by-Gently'®
Rose 'Tottering-by-Gently'® is a wonderfully cheerful English shrub rose whose beauty lies in the simplicity of its bright yellow single blooms. Produced in large, open sprays, the flowers create a spectacular display when viewed en masse, bringing a natural, informal charm to the garden from early summer through to autumn.
The open flowers are rich in pollen and nectar, making them highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. As the season progresses, the blooms are often followed by clusters of attractive red hips, extending the ornamental interest well into autumn and winter.
Introduced by David Austin in 2018, this healthy and reliable shrub forms a rounded, branching habit that performs well in borders, rose hedges and wildlife-friendly planting schemes. Its long flowering season, excellent health and relaxed character make it a standout choice for both traditional and contemporary gardens.

Getting the most from your new Rose
Where to plant
Choose an open, sunny position with free-draining soil. Avoid planting where roses have grown before or transfer fresh soil to the site. Patio roses can be planted in mixed borders or alongside other roses, or in pots and containers.
Planting
Roses love organic matter, so mix well-rotten manure, leaf mould or compost into the soil. Water thoroughly before planting. Make a hole big enough not to disturb the root ball. Remove from the pot and ensure the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Back-fill soil mixed with a good fertilizer, then firm. Water thoroughly.
Aftercare
Water well until established. Mulching will keep the soil weed-free and moist. For best results feed your roses with fertilizer in spring and again in summer. Remove faded flowers to encourage speedy repeat flowering.
Simple Pruning
Prune your rose in March or before new growth by removing any dead or very thin branches and reducing the height by 1/3 to 2/3 of the previous growth.
