Rose 'The Mayflower'®
Rose 'The Mayflower'® is a remarkably healthy English shrub rose producing beautifully formed, mid pink blooms in the classic Old Rose style. The flowers are held proudly above the neat foliage, creating a long-lasting display of colour and fragrance from early summer through to autumn.
Each medium-sized bloom carries a delightful medium-strong Old Rose fragrance, bringing traditional rose character to the garden. Its upright, bushy and twiggy growth habit forms a tough, reliable shrub that performs exceptionally well in a wide range of garden settings.
Introduced by David Austin in 2001, this outstanding variety is renowned for its exceptional health and disease resistance. Suitable for borders, containers, rose hedges and partially shaded positions, it is one of the easiest and most dependable English roses to grow.

Getting the most from your new Rose
Where to plant
Choose an open, sunny position with free-draining soil. Avoid planting where roses have grown before or transfer fresh soil to the site. Patio roses can be planted in mixed borders or alongside other roses, or in pots and containers.
Planting
Roses love organic matter, so mix well-rotten manure, leaf mould or compost into the soil. Water thoroughly before planting. Make a hole big enough not to disturb the root ball. Remove from the pot and ensure the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Back-fill soil mixed with a good fertilizer, then firm. Water thoroughly.
Aftercare
Water well until established. Mulching will keep the soil weed-free and moist. For best results feed your roses with fertilizer in spring and again in summer. Remove faded flowers to encourage speedy repeat flowering.
Simple Pruning
Prune your rose in March or before new growth by removing any dead or very thin branches and reducing the height by 1/3 to 2/3 of the previous growth.
