Rose 'Princess Alexandra of Kent'
Rose 'Princess Alexandra of Kent' is a magnificent English shrub rose from David Austin, producing exceptionally large, deeply cupped blooms in a rich, glowing bright pink. Packed with beautifully arranged petals, the flowers have an elegant, full appearance and make a striking feature against the healthy green foliage.
Introduced in 2007, this outstanding variety flowers repeatedly from early summer into autumn, providing a long season of colour and fragrance. The blooms release a wonderfully strong Tea perfume that develops as they mature, beginning with classic Tea notes before revealing refreshing hints of lemon and subtle undertones of blackcurrant.
Forming a healthy, well-rounded shrub with graceful growth, 'Princess Alexandra of Kent' is ideal for mixed borders, informal hedging and patio containers. Easy to grow and highly reliable, it thrives in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil, rewarding gardeners with exceptional repeat flowering and outstanding fragrance.

Getting the most from your new Rose
Where to plant
Choose an open, sunny position with free-draining soil. Avoid planting where roses have grown before or transfer fresh soil to the site. Patio roses can be planted in mixed borders or alongside other roses, or in pots and containers.
Planting
Roses love organic matter, so mix well-rotten manure, leaf mould or compost into the soil. Water thoroughly before planting. Make a hole big enough not to disturb the root ball. Remove from the pot and ensure the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Back-fill soil mixed with a good fertilizer, then firm. Water thoroughly.
Aftercare
Water well until established. Mulching will keep the soil weed-free and moist. For best results feed your roses with fertilizer in spring and again in summer. Remove faded flowers to encourage speedy repeat flowering.
Simple Pruning
Prune your rose in March or before new growth by removing any dead or very thin branches and reducing the height by 1/3 to 2/3 of the previous growth.
