Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet'
Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet' is a striking ground cover rose producing generous clusters of rich scarlet-red double flowers. The lightly fragrant blooms create a vivid carpet of colour above healthy green foliage, making this variety ideal for brightening borders, banks and larger planting areas.
Flowering repeatedly from summer into autumn, 'Flower Carpet Scarlet' provides a long season of reliable colour. Its spreading habit helps to suppress weeds and soften the edges of paths, walls and borders, while the abundant flowers create an eye-catching display for many months.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, this dependable rose has good disease resistance and performs best in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. It is an excellent choice for mass planting, ground cover, containers and low-maintenance garden schemes.

Getting the most from your new Rose
Where to plant
Choose an open, sunny position with free-draining soil. Avoid planting where roses have grown before or transfer fresh soil to the site. Patio roses can be planted in mixed borders or alongside other roses, or in pots and containers.
Planting
Roses love organic matter, so mix well-rotten manure, leaf mould or compost into the soil. Water thoroughly before planting. Make a hole big enough not to disturb the root ball. Remove from the pot and ensure the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Back-fill soil mixed with a good fertilizer, then firm. Water thoroughly.
Aftercare
Water well until established. Mulching will keep the soil weed-free and moist. For best results feed your roses with fertilizer in spring and again in summer. Remove faded flowers to encourage speedy repeat flowering.
Simple Pruning
Prune your rose in March or before new growth by removing any dead or very thin branches and reducing the height by 1/3 to 2/3 of the previous growth.
