Rhipsalis baccifera 'Oasis'
Rhipsalis baccifera ‘Oasis’ is a species of epiphytic cactus native to tropical and subtropical regions, including Central and South America. Known as the 'Mistletoe Cactus', it is part of the Rhipsalis genus, celebrated for its trailing, graceful stems and adaptability to various indoor environments.
Key Characteristics:
- Growth Form: Features slender, cascading stems that can grow up to several feet long, making it ideal for hanging baskets or elevated planters. Its lush green stems give a delicate yet vibrant appearance
- Flowers and Fruits: Tiny, creamy-white flowers appear sporadically, often followed by small, translucent berries that add ornamental value
- Habitat: Native to humid, shaded forest canopies, it thrives as an epiphyte, often growing on trees or rocks
Care Tips:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some shade. Direct sunlight may cause discoloration or scorching
- Watering: Water thoroughly during the growing season, allowing the top layer of the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in cooler months to prevent root rot
- Temperature: Loves warm, stable conditions. Ideal temperatures range between 18°C and 26°C (65°F to 79°F). Protect from frost
- Humidity: Thrives in higher humidity. Regular misting or placing it near a humidity source, such as a pebble tray, can help replicate its natural environment
