Pulsatilla vulgaris 'Purple'
Pulsatilla vulgaris 'Purple' is a compact spring-flowering perennial producing silky, nodding purple flowers with contrasting golden-yellow stamens. The blooms emerge above finely divided green foliage, creating a delicate and distinctive early-season display.
Before flowering, the soft, hairy buds add texture and interest, while decorative feathery seed heads continue the display after the flowers have faded. This gives the plant a particularly long season of ornamental value for such a compact perennial.
Best grown in full sun and well-drained soil, 'Purple' is ideal for rockeries, alpine beds, gravel gardens and the front of free-draining borders. Its neat, clump-forming habit also makes it well suited to smaller gardens and containers.
