Prunus lusitanica 'Myrtifolia'
Prunus lusitanica 'Myrtifolia', also known as 'Angustifolia', is a refined evergreen shrub with narrow, glossy dark green leaves carried on attractive reddish-purple stems. Its dense foliage provides excellent year-round structure and a smart, architectural appearance.
Fragrant white flower spikes appear in early summer, attracting bees and other pollinating insects, followed by ornamental black berries in autumn that are enjoyed by birds. Its naturally upright, dense growth makes it particularly useful for hedging, screening and structural planting.
Hardy, reliable and easy to grow, 'Myrtifolia' performs well in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. It responds well to pruning and can be maintained as a neat hedge or allowed to develop into a larger evergreen specimen.
