Piper sarmentosum
Piper sarmentosum is an unusual tropical houseplant with lush, glossy green leaves held on slender stems, creating a full and leafy appearance. The attractive heart-shaped foliage has a gently textured surface with prominent veining, giving the plant plenty of character and a rich, tropical feel.
Ideal for warm, bright rooms with indirect light, Piper sarmentosum works beautifully as part of a lush foliage display or as an individual feature plant. Its naturally leafy growth is particularly suited to kitchens, conservatories and warm living spaces, where regular warmth and humidity will help keep the foliage looking at its best.

Piper Care Sheet
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It will tolerate some light shade but should be protected from strong direct sunlight.
Water: Keep the compost lightly and consistently moist during active growth, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid waterlogging.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a rich but free-draining houseplant compost. Feed every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant feed.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity and warm, stable conditions. Keep away from cold draughts and dry heat sources.
Pruning and propagation: Pinch or trim longer stems to maintain a bushier shape. Propagate easily from stem cuttings taken during active growth.
