Miscanthus sinensis 'Piccolo Rubino'
Miscanthus sinensis 'Piccolo Rubino' is a very compact ornamental grass forming a dense, upright clump of slender green foliage. Its neat, fountain-like habit brings movement, texture and structure without taking up too much space.
Dark ruby-red flower plumes appear early from July and remain richly coloured throughout summer. As autumn arrives, the foliage develops vibrant orange-red tones, while the flowerheads gradually mature to softer silvery shades.
Ideal for sunny borders, gravel gardens, smaller planting spaces and patio containers, 'Piccolo Rubino' thrives in moist but well-drained soil. Leave the dried stems standing through winter for structure, then cut them back before fresh growth emerges in spring.
