Lonicera periclymenum 'Belgica'
Lonicera periclymenum 'Belgica' is a vigorous deciduous climber producing richly scented tubular flowers that open purple-red before fading to creamy yellow. Flowering from late spring into early summer, the colourful blooms are carried in clusters and fill the garden with a sweet fragrance.
Its twining growth makes 'Belgica' ideal for training over pergolas, trellises, fences and arches, where it quickly adds height and structure. The glossy green foliage provides an attractive backdrop to the flowers, while the nectar-rich blooms are highly attractive to bees and butterflies.
Hardy, reliable and easy to grow, 'Belgica' performs well in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil. It is an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly planting and traditional cottage garden schemes.
