Ligustrum ionandrum

Ligustrum ionandrum, commonly known as Delavay Privet, is a compact evergreen shrub valued for its dense, bushy habit and attractive dark green foliage. Its neat growth makes it an excellent choice for low hedging, topiary, borders or as a structural evergreen feature within the garden.

In early summer, short panicles of small white flowers are produced amongst the foliage, adding seasonal interest and attracting pollinators. These are followed by decorative blue-black berries which provide additional autumn and winter appeal. Drought tolerant once established and adaptable to a range of soil types, it is a reliable and easy-to-grow shrub for both formal and informal garden settings.

Its naturally compact habit requires minimal maintenance, making it particularly useful for smaller gardens where year-round structure and evergreen colour are desired.
