Labisia pumila
Labisia pumila is a rare and highly desirable tropical foliage plant admired for its dramatic, almost black leaves highlighted by bold silvery-white midribs and delicate pink-edged margins. Growing as a compact basal rosette, this slow-growing species brings exceptional texture and contrast to terrariums, plant cabinets and humid indoor collections.
Native to the shaded rainforest floor of Southeast Asia, Labisia pumila thrives in warm, humid conditions where its velvety foliage develops its richest colouring. Its compact habit and striking ornamental leaves make it an excellent choice for collectors of unusual tropical plants.

Labisia Care Sheet
Light: Prefers low to medium bright indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which may scorch or fade the foliage.
Water: Keep compost evenly lightly moist but never saturated. Allow only the very top layer of compost to dry slightly between watering.
Soil/Nutrition: Requires a loose, airy mix containing fine bark, sphagnum moss, perlite and quality houseplant compost. Feed lightly during spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertiliser.
Humidity: Thrives in high humidity and stable warm temperatures. Ideal for terrariums, cabinets or humid rooms.
Pruning and propagation: Remove damaged foliage as needed. Can be propagated through division or stem cuttings in warm humid conditions.
