Ilex x meserveae 'Blue Angel' (f)
Ilex 'Blue Angel' is a compact female holly with glossy, spiny evergreen foliage in striking blue-green tones, carried on attractive dark purple stems. In late spring, it produces small white flowers, which are followed in autumn by an abundance of bright red berries if a male pollinator such as Ilex 'Blue Prince' is nearby. These berries persist into winter, providing vibrant seasonal colour and attracting garden birds.
With its upright, bushy habit and hardy nature, ‘Blue Angel’ is excellent for hedging, screening, or as a structural specimen. Low maintenance and long-lived, it offers year-round interest and thrives in most well-drained soils in sun or partial shade.
