Ilex × meserveae 'Casanova'
Ilex × meserveae 'Casanova' is a bushy evergreen holly with glossy dark green leaves edged in creamy white. The contrasting variegation brightens mixed planting throughout the year, while the pale leaf margins develop an attractive pink flush in cold weather, adding extra colour to winter borders.
In spring, red-flushed buds open to reveal small white flowers. As a male variety, 'Casanova' does not produce berries, but it can help pollinate compatible female hollies nearby. Also known as 'Leonardo', it is valued for its decorative foliage and dense, upright growth.
Hardy and easy to grow, this versatile shrub thrives in full sun or partial shade in moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It is ideal for mixed borders, evergreen screening and hedging, responding well to trimming where a more formal shape or manageable size is required.
