Ilex crenata 'Fastigiata'
Ilex crenata 'Fastigiata' is a slow-growing evergreen shrub with a naturally narrow, upright habit and dense mid-green foliage. Its small, neat leaves provide year-round structure, making it an excellent choice for adding strong vertical form without taking up too much space.
Small creamy-white flowers appear in spring, followed by ornamental black berries when successfully pollinated. The dense evergreen growth provides useful shelter for wildlife, while the berries can also attract garden birds.
Extremely hardy and easy to maintain, 'Fastigiata' is ideal for narrow hedging, screening, formal planting and architectural accents. It grows well in sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil and requires relatively little pruning to maintain its naturally upright shape.
