Ilex aquifolium 'Silver van Tol'
Ilex 'Silver van Tol' is a striking evergreen holly with dark green leaves edged in silvery-white, giving bright year-round contrast in the garden. An almost spineless, self-fertile female variety, it produces small white flowers in late spring, followed by clusters of bright red berries in autumn and winter without the need for a male pollinator.
Its glossy, mildly spiny foliage makes it an excellent choice for lower-maintenance hedging, screening, or as a structural specimen in mixed borders. The flowers provide nectar for bees, while the berries are a valuable food source for garden birds in the colder months. Tough, hardy and easy to grow, ‘Silver van Tol’ thrives in sun or partial shade and in most well-drained soils.
